About Designs by J Designs By J has been in existence since 1990, and a member of the Renaissance marketplace since 2000. We got our start in medieval/renaissance garb through a fantasy live-action role-playing group, so all of our garb is designed with the active person in mind. Our first faire appearance was at The Maine Renaissance Faire in July-August 2000. Since then we have merchanted at The Vermont Renaissance Festival, The Connecticut Renaissance Faire, Arisia Sci-Fi Convention in Boston, MA, Prince William’s Faire in Auburn, MA, The Festival of the Lion, various Pastimes faires: The King Arthur Faire and The Robin Hood Faire, both in Gloucester, MA, The Three Musketeers Faire in Newport, RI, and The Pirate Faire in Winter Island Park, Salem, MA, and the SCA’s Barony of Stonemarche Market Day at Birka in Salem, NH, as well as other SCA East Kingdom events. Our primary focus is woolen cloaks and one-of-a-kind pieces, but we also offer a variety of basic pieces that can be combined to create an entire ensemble. Custom orders are always welcome. “If you can dream it, we can do it,” as long as it remains within the limits of fabric and the human body.
